About Me

Hi! My name is Amanda, and this is my ninth year of teaching.  I love my job and getting to work with awesome co-workers as we teach the next generation.  Teaching is not just my job; it is my calling.  I knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was five, and I'm thankful that my sweet Grandma sat through many silly lessons with me to encourage my young mind.  I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree from Taylor University in 2009.  I then moved to McDowell County in West Virginia to start my first year of teaching.  Since then, I received my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist from Concord University in 2013.  It is my desire that each student can reach the full potential that God created him or her to be.

I am happily married to my best friend and mountain man husband, Aaron.   Aaron teaches at one of the high schools close by.  We love having the same work schedule and breaks.  For fun, we enjoy riding our Ranger (the minivan of four wheelers) through the mountains, going to church, listening to music, attending concerts, drinking coffee on our porch, laughing lots and hanging out with our family and friends.

God has blessed us with two precious gifts, Ava and Anthony.  Our days and nights are filled with laughter and lots of business with these two love bugs.  I wouldn't have it any other way!

I love the Lord with all of my heart, and I try to live each day to glorify Him in all I do.  He has blessed me with an awesome family that I couldn't be more thankful for....or miss any more since they live in Ohio.  Here's a picture of these precious people at Aaron and I's wedding a few years ago.

Besides Jesus and my family, my biggest passion is traveling.  God has blessed me to see many parts of the world and His precious people.  My life has forever been changed by these places.  Of all of the places that I've traveled to, Africa is the place that will forever have my heart.  The safari theme from my classroom is dear to my heart because it reminds me of this magical place.  I was privileged to be able to do my student teaching in Africa and have been there two times.  I'd go back in a second!

I hope that you enjoy this blog.  I love to see and read about other teacher's ideas, so hopefully you will be able to share some of mine as well.  Happy reading!  :)
